In the 21st day of March 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat confirmed at a press conference that Coleman would play the companion of Doctor Who along with Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat has chosen her due to the way she worked with Smith as well as the fact that she had a faster speaking speed than him.
