Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. The daughter of Peter, an academic, and Ilkay Silk, a prominent actor, director, producer, educator, playwright and Director of Drama in St. Thomas University. Anna is able to recall the first moments she experienced as a child, including being a spectator at play rehearsals. Silk appeared in several commercials while she was young. She was a graduate of St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas was engaged in two early theater productions, including Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk was able to move from Toronto in November 1999 in the month of November 1999 to Los Angeles during the next decade. Seth Cooperman was her future partner when she began to meet him in 2007 in an actor's workshop at Los Angeles. They got married at a civil ceremony on the 10th of December 2009 following their engagement. On April 10, 2011 the couple renewed their vows at a Jewish ceremony held in Fredericton following her conversion to Judaism.
