Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his appearance in the drama show telecast globally as The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other critically highly acclaimed Danish dramas: Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, during an episode on BBC drama Sherlock. In the American television show House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has stated that he and his brother first learned English by listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
